Welcome to the SCVUSD No. 35 Foundation website. We are a nonprofit foundation serving Santa Cruz Valley Unified School District students, staff, families, and community. Our foundation is committed to funding resources to help our children be successful, engaged, and challenged. We encourage on and off campus learning opportunities through teacher grants and other enrichment experiences.

The education foundation is a conduit for community, corporations, foundations, businesses, educators, and individuals who want to make a difference in the lives of children in Santa Cruz Valley.

A Message from Our President

Welcome to the online home for Santa Cruz Valley Unified School District No. 35 Foundation.

The idea of a foundation came about after a successful fundraising event to establish the Excellence in Education Recognition Banquet. As superintendent, I wanted to establish this event to honor our students who were highly performing academically—the top 5% of our graduating class. In addition, I wanted the program to demonstrate the importance of the teacher to student relationships. This idea caught on with the community. We were successful at raising three times the money necessary to hold the banquet. What good fortune!  This banquet would become the first activity for a new foundation that would use initially raised funds, honor our students and teachers, and begin to focus on our stated purpose—to support the educational activities of Santa Cruz Valley Unified School District No. 35.

In 2013, the second year of the Excellence in Education Recognition Banquet, we began giving a $500 scholarship to our students. We have continued to provide that level of support at recent banquets. It is our hope that we will be able to provide an enduring scholarship in the near future. We would like these students to receive $500 a year for four years.

For 2017, we have expanded scholarship support to a deserving Career and Technical Education student. For the first time, we will select that student and present a $1000 scholarship at the Rio Rico High School Honors program held in May 2017. In addition, thanks to the support from the Benchmark Foundation of Tubac, we will be providing money to a teacher in order to enhance his/her professional skills and knowledge.

We are very proud of our accomplishments so far, but we need to do more. I hope this website provides you with information that will inspire you to assist us in our efforts to support outstanding students and to enhance the school district.

Sincerely,

Rodney K. Rich
